Round 7 Donington Park GP: Home, not so sweet home, but time to change that!!!

Its safe to say over the years, Donington Park has not been kind to me, and has on the whole proven to host some of the most challenging race weekends I have experienced, from DNF's, to dirty tactics, the race weekends have always proven to be entertaining but sometimes for the wrong reasons.

However, it's not all doom and gloom by any means, and the GP circuit in particular holds a very close place to my heart, having last year completed what I still consider to be my best ever Qualifying lap that resulted in a lap record, and despite getting taken out from the lead, the pace I had, particularly through the Melbourne Loop section was something that I will always be proud of! It just suits my style of driving!

Onto this season and it has definitely been a learning year on all fronts, with a car that was definitely a problem child for the first 3 rounds of the season, being extremely unhealthy, I took the decision with the team for financial and development reasons to sit out Brands Hatch, with a new engine being needed.

Round 5 at Oulton Park was a MASSIVE improvement! The car felt so much better with its new heart, and at last I was able to race people without getting driven past easily down the straights! Unfortunately though, with an exhaust issue causing a retirement in the 2nd race, it put pay to any change of getting a decent championship position.

With that in mind, along with a budget running very low on finances due to the 5 sets of wheel bearings, and then the exhaust fix, I was forced to miss Cadwell as well, but thankfully, the car is ready and I am more than charged up ready to get going at Donington this weekend!

This weekend I will be an extremely exciting weekend for me, with Airbourne Graphics & Signs, EPTA project and potentially even Melliard Motorsport coming to watch the action in person! I am extremely thankful for all their support in what has been a trying year and I will be aiming to do them proud as I give it my all in the Mx5 Supercup!

For those that are unable to make it this weekend, the action returns to YouTube and TSL Live Timing so you can follow along at home via the following links:

Race 1: Saturday - 14:15 - 14:35

Race 2: Sunday - 12:05 - 12:25
