2025 Miata Trophy Round 1 Snetterton Preview: A New Start

Writer: Jack BrewerJack Brewer

It's felt like a life age since I have done one of these posts! Having missed the last round of the 2024 season to focus on this year, and getting myself fully settled into a new team and also used to a new tyre compound.

Its safe to say 2024 didn't go the way I wanted or any of the team around me had wanted, we had some great moments at Croft, but it was mainly a struggle of not being able to get the car working on the dry weather tyres. The season was summed up perfectly by the last race I did at Donington, a bad qualifying, followed by good early pace in the race and making progress through the pack only to get put in the gravel.

Since that moment, full focus has been on 2025 and lots has changed. We have had some major changes in terms of sponsorship at the very last moment which has left me in a very difficult position starting the season, and we have also had a change of tyre manufacture come in just a week before the start of the season, which could mean the testing we did over the winter to learn the Toyo tyre may not have counted for much.

The other more exciting news is I announced for the first time ever a change of team, with me moving to Hills Motorsport for this season, and will be racing in the MSV Miata Trophy Championship. With Hills Motorsport being the largest and most successful team not only in the Supercup that I previously raced in but also in the Miata Trophy, it was an absolute no brainer to team up with Aidan and his team for the season ahead!

In terms of sponsors for 2025 I have been very lucky to once again be supported by EPTA Projects, Lex-Tools, EdsonGFX, Mazspec, Beaded Seat Company & Melliard Motorsport. But I am also joined by ProWear Attire for this season and will be showing off some new team wear that they have produced for me for the start of the season! I cannot wait to continue to represent these amazing brands, and welcome them to races throughout the season.

Onto the weekend and well we are going to one of my favourites, with us visiting Snetterton to open up the Miata Trophy championship. With an open pitlane test day on the Friday followed by Qualifying, Race 1 and Race 2 on the Saturday. With the Miata Trophy being a 1 day event, we have a lot of racing to fit into one very intense day.

The layout of the race weekend is something that will take some getting used to this season but so will the racing itself, with Qualifying setting the grid for race 1, and then a top 10 reverse grid for race 2 which will definitely make the racing extremely close for this season.

Timings for the weekend are as follows with all the racing on 15/03/25

Qualifying: 09:35 - 09:50

Race 1: 11:45 - 12:05

Race 2: 13:55 - 14:15

A fast turn around between sessions means its going to be a very busy day with lots of action that can all be found on the MSVT Racing YouTube channel and on TSL Live Timing.

Theres a lot of unknowns going into the first race but one things for sure, we will give it our all!

See you on the other side

Jack
