Its safe to say, last time I visited Croft some 3 years ago now, it was by far the best race weekend I have ever had! It will be a weekend that I will always remember and talk about through my entire life as the weekend I won my first ever race. Not only that, I then somehow managed to go on to win all 3 races that weekend, something I have never done since!
It also means that out of the 3 races I have ever done at Croft, I have won all 3. Being realistic, I know it is highly unlikely to be challenging for wins this weekend with the struggles we have had this season, but going back to one of my favourite tracks always gives me a slight feeling of hope that we can salvage some good results even if we are lacking overall performance.
2024 has obviously played out to be a very different season to that of 2021, last time out at Anglesey was another weekend of struggling with car performance and lack of fresh tyres that really hurt out qualifying and ability to race, especially in race 2 & 3 where a lack of traction off the slower corners was killing our speed. The one advantage we had was the consistency of the tyre over the 20 minutes, but the actual peak performance just wasn't there.
Testing for this weekend will be the last time these tyres are used before then are sent to the scrap pile never to be seen again! Then it will be into a frantic weekend of racing with Qualifying and 3 races to get my teetch stuck into! The aim is to continue to improve on the balance whilst extracting a bit more peak performance from the car, which with the tyre situation that we are in, will make it very difficult to judge the overall set up of the car required for Saturday morning.
This weekend we are supporting the TCR UK series so we have live streaming for all 3 raceson YouTube, as well as live timing for qualifying on TSL. The links to the action can be found below:
See you on the other side...
