Its safe to say the start of 2024 has been another testing period. But when looking back at the state the car was in this time last year, and seeing memories appear of the new rolling chassis arriving with my then 3 year old Niece reversing it down the side of the house, (with a little assistance from my dad) I can only feel grateful for the position we are in where the results haven't really told the full story as to the progress we have made with the car.
After the engine troubles of Snetterton, the 7 week period between races was extremely welcome! The engines been out, stripped AGAIN, and checked to see if we have any cracks within the block and the head, and thankfully from that side of things we are in the all clear. However the brand new genuine head gasket seemed to be in a right state and with no real explanation as to why. All that we could do is replace it with a new gasket and hope that everything is sorted for Oulton.
Oulton Park does present a good chance to get back into the action and at a circuit I have visited before in the Supercup in 2022, which in itself was a race weekend where I raced with a brand new engine fore the first time in Supercup. Now onto the 3rd engine in 3 years, and hoping to finally see what we have been work so hard for start to turn around and see if lady luck fancies being on our side for a change.
Oulton park is always a unique race "weekend", as there is no racing on the Sunday, meaning this weekend there will be Qualifying, Race 1 and Race 2 on the Saturday with no Race 3.
To follow all the action throughout Saturday 25th May, click the links below for the Live Stream / Live Timing of the event.
With planned visits from EPTA projects, Lex-Tools and EdsonGFX, lets hope to do their support proud.
See you at Oulton.
Jack.
