2022 Round 1: Silverstone International - A Fresh Start

It feels like an eternity since the last round of the BRSCC Mazda Mx-5 championship at Brands Hatch, with A LOT happening over the course of the winter, resulting in me moving on from the Mk1 Mx-5 Championship, to the Mx-5 Supercup.

The move in championships came about mainly down to my own personal feelings that I had done everything I needed to in the mk1's, and knowing that every time I stepping into the car, I could be right on the front running pace with little thought, a new challenge was needed. Thankfully, the BRSCC have the perfect stepping stone with the Supercup, but as we have already found out, with a new challenge comes some pretty huge hurdles.

Quiet winter periods aren't really something I'm good at clearly, with a new car to learn / rebuild from scratch, there has been no time for any testing, with us only getting the car out at Donington Park for an hours shake down on the Monday before the race weekend, and unfortunately still finding plenty of niggling issues that we will have to carry into the first rounds of the season, expectations are definitely being kept relatively low.

From my side of things, having had no time to learn a new car properly, getting the maximum out of myself in the car will be a long way off.

As for the first round of the season, we start off at one of my favourite circuits, and the first of two visits to Silverstone, with round 3 being the first time I will have ever driven the full GP circuit.

Back with the Tucker Motorsport team we will be taking on Silverstone together, with the aim of the weekend to improve the performance and take our first step on the way to competing at the front of the Supercup field.

To follow all the action over the weekend, as was the case last year, the action will be streamed live on the BRSCC YouTube channel, with live timing also found on TSL Live Timing via the links below:

And remember when following the action this year for the first time in 5 years I'm not in the Mx-5 championship, I'm in the Mazda Mx-5 Supercup at the following times:

Saturday:

Qualifying: 10:00 - 10:20

Race 1: 12:35 - 12:55

Sunday:

Race 2: 11:50 - 12:10

Race 3: 16:10 - 16:30

Fingers crossed for a solid start to the first weekend back racing, and I will see you on the other side!

Jack
